In this case – Abigail is the one with the brains and the beauty, but the brains must have failed her when she decided to marry Nabal. Isn’t it amazing that people that would normally be considered very bright – get very stupid when it comes to love? If there is EVER a time to use common sense – it is at that time, but many do not.

Description: There are many telling us how to get to know God or at least “the God within us”. The Apostle John is going to give us a “check list” on how we can know whether a prophet is false or not. We ARE NOT supposed to believe every spirit and WE ARE to test them, because there are many false ones out there.

Can we rightly handle the truth? Is truth as subjective as the world would like us to believe?

Description: If our physical heath was in the same condition as our spiritual health, what condition would we be in this morning? Would we be healthy and full of life? Would we have a slight cold? Would we have the flu or pneumonia? Would we be hospitalized right now? Or would they be calling all the family to come be at our bedside while we slipped from this world into the next?

Description: The city of Sardis was wealthy but wicked! As Willian Barclay once wrote “The combination of easy money and a loose moral environment made the people of Sardis notoriously soft and pleasure loving. “The great characteristic of Sardis was that, even on pagan lips, Sardis was a name of contempt. Its people were notoriously loose-living, notoriously pleasure-and luxury loving. Sardis was a city of the decadence.”

Description: Jesus told the Apostle John in Rev 1:19 NKJV Write the things which you have seen, and the things which are, and the things which will take place after this. …the things which you have seen… – of course would have encompassed John’s lifetime and his life with Christ. And certainly this is why we have the book of Revelation! – (2) John was obedient – and he DID write down what he had seen. …the things which are… = this time period represents the Church Age. The time of the 7 churches which we just completed in Chapters 2 and 3. And finally the things which will take place after this. = That is, the things that will take place after the church age. = This is represented in Chapters 4 through 22.

John wept because there was no one to open the scroll. That is until he is told, “THE LION OF THE TRIBE OF JUDAH, THE ROOT OF DAVID, HAS PREVAILED TO OPEN THE SCROLL AND TO LOOSE ITS SEVEN SEALS.”

Description: The Lamb (which is Jesus) opened one of the seals!
This is an event that all of heaven has been waiting for – so one of the four living creatures says with a thundering voice – “Come and see.” And as John looked – he saw a white horse and the person on it had a “bow”. In Chapter 19 we will see another white horse and the person on it is clearly Jesus because he is called “Faithful and True!”

The Lord’s judgement seems harsh but we must remember that it is only for those who have rejected Jesus! The Lord never sends anyone to hell, unless it is their own choice.
